Throwback Thursday: Maelstrom Character Concepts

It's kind of fun/scary seeing all this old concept art for Maelstrom.  For one thing, my style was, erm, different (everyone had long faces for some reason...).  For another, most of these characters look nothing like this anymore (either that, or they had some major personality adjustments)!

Mattie was originally an older teen, but she's since been aged down and had a haircut.  She was also a mean girl, but that has changed too.

I based these concepts of Alard off of Thorpe from KWC (the blond kid), except with brown hair.  He's had some tweaks (that jawline for instance ), but is still the accident-prone character he was then.

Lorelei...is nothing like this version.

Norris turned into Axel and became a steampunk cyborg.

Francis became Simon and got a nifty earring.

Johann transformed into Jude and got a ponytail.
